Kaveh Aflaki is a highly accomplished engineer and entrepreneur with expertise in energy, technology, and business strategy. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, including leadership roles in the power utility sector and technology vendors. He is the CEO of IEMS Solution, a company that provides innovative solutions for AI-based intelligent energy management. Under his leadership, the company has forged partnerships with industry giants such as Honeywell, GM, and FLO. He is a recognized thought leader in the industry and has been invited to speak at numerous conferences and events. He is a senior member of IEEE and volunteers in IEEE-PES, IEEE- Smart Grid, and IEEE-Smart Cities. He is a member of the IEEE-PES Industry Technical Support Leadership Committee (ITSLC). He was the past Technical Chair of the IEEE-PES Grid Edge Technologies conference & exposition in 2023.
Ashkan R. Kian

Dr. Ashkan R. Kian has over 27 years of R&D, Consulting and Software Development experiences in Smart Energy Grids, Power Systems Planning, Operations & Optimal Control, and Transactive Energy Markets by means of Blockchain. Ashkan has served as the CTO at IEMS Solutions (August 2022 to present); Founder & CEO at IEMS Solutions (July 2015 to July 2022); Senior Data Scientist at Opus One Solutions (2016-2018); V.P. of Engineering at Genscape Inc. (2001 to 2002); Ashkan is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada and a Senior Member of IEEE; has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers; is the main inventor of 6 US provisional patents about Smart Grid Software/SaaS.
Masoud Bashari
VP, Software & Technology
P.Eng, PhD in AI & Intelligent Systems
Masoud has over 9 years of professional experiences in research and development of AI and Machine Learning algorithms. He is responsible for designing the software architecture at IEMS Solutions. He is also the AI & ML team leader for the Predictive Analytics SaaS and the LG Nova V2G pilot project, EV and EVSE mobile applications’ design & development. He has also a demonstrated history of cloud-based software development on both IBM Cloud and AWS. Masoud was with joint Concordia-Akonovia project as a Research Associate and Software Developer (2018), with Ryerson University as a Visting Research Scholar and data analyzer (2016-2017), and with the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as a Lecturer (2014-2016). Masoud was also with the Center of Excellence on Soft Computing and Intelligent Information Processing as a Social Networks Analyzer (2013-2019).
Javad Zare

Javad has 7 years of R&D and professional experience in power systems optimization, protection, and control. He is the Director of Power Systems & DERMS at IEMS Solutions, responsible for designing DERMS software architecture and backend development as well as the IESO Grid Innovation Project’s DERMS/OPF analysis; DER/DG optimal hourly (or sub-hourly) scheduling and communicating the setpoints to the local DER/DG controllers via OpenADR/RestAPI protocols.
Before joining IEMS Solutions , Javad served as Power Systems & Control Eng., Electrical Eng. Dept., University of Waterloo (May 2018-March 2020); Power Systems & Control Eng., Digital Relays Lab, School of Electrical Eng., University of Tehran (2012-2015); Power System Engineer, Yekta Niroo Co. (2016-2018): and Distribution System Engineer, Mehriz Distribution Company (2015).
Ehsan Saradar

Ehsan is a software engineer with 10 years of software and 4 years of blockchain development experiences. He is the Director of Blockchain & Transactive Energy at IEMS Solutions. He has a solid skillset in designing and developing micro-services and distributed services. He is most interested in different distributed ledger technologies such as blockchain and contributed to different projects such as Cosmos, THORChain, THORSwap, Osmosis and etc. He is responsible for Blockchain based Energy Trading platforms for different projects for IEMS, including the EV-fleet management for G2V & V2G services from/to EVSE and DSO for the U-Ottawa Smart Microgrid and LG Nova V2G pilot projects.
